Well, Carpe Diem came to a bit of a halt for me after Wednesday’s Child but I did carry on with the little fic started for Monday’s Child and there are some echoes of the rest of the rhyme in there if you look closely enough. It also fitted with the [community profile] what_if  Challenge #22 Steampunk, so it was nice to include it there as well. The completed fic, is uploaded to AO3: The Race

In other matters, lockdown persists in other states, which means our borders are closed and therefore no family visits since Easter. But on a good note, daughter and grandsons will be coming back here to live permanently (hopefully) at the end of the year. I’m quite excited about that and keeping fingers crossed that everything goes through smoothly for their relocation. Right now with all our restrictions and lockdowns travel between the states is limited and rather fraught with regulations, so 'going smoothly' is not a given!

Other than that life is pretty much normal. The weather is typically spring – nice warm days interspersed with cold, wet and windy ones. I started doing Pilates some months ago and really feel some benefit from it, the old bones and muscles seem to be working a bit better anyway:)

Easter, when the grandsons were here, we went to Gorge Wildlife Park and of course there a photos.

I've missed several challenges, but this one was interesting.

Challenge #12

In your own space, resurrect an old meme. Have fun with it! Which is the goofiest meme you can think of? Put on your party hat and be silly!! Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I don’t usually do memes but I saw this on the list and it appealed so thought I’d give it a go.

I write like

Paste a few paragraphs of your writing into the box and see which famous author has a style most similar to you. It doesn’t have to be actual fic writing; you can post your latest blog post, but the longer, the better the tool works

As I often change my style of writing to suit the particular story/setting I decided to use three different fics, and came up with three different famous authors I write like, which is quite an achievement – I think.

No. 1: Shadows on the Wall

This is a short piece I wrote for The Professionals a while ago:

In which:

I must admit to be quite happy with the comparison because like his work or not he is a brilliant writer.

No. 2: Prey

An AU fic written for the Lewis_Challenge Fright Fest, a vampire hunter tale set in Victorian England

In which:

Happy with this one too, I must have got the atmosphere right somewhere there.

No. 3: This one is an excerpt from my current WIP:

Lewis Steampunk fic also set in Victorian England  )

In which:

I’ve never heard of this writer before but he seems quite famous, so now I’ll have to find his books and read them!

On an aside, a Snowflake Challenge seems oddly inappropriate in the Southern Hemisphere at the moment, especially as it’s currently 42deg Celsius.

It’s June, how did that happen!? It came as a surprise, May seemed like it would be around forever, then suddenly it vanished and here we are, half the year gone already. And I feel like I’ve been standing still for most of it*sigh*

Update and some photos )

That's about it for now.

Look after yourselves out there, the world seems a very dangerous place right now.

Life has been a bit fraught lately with lots of health issues popping  up their heads – not for me but for hubby and son - so I haven’t been very active online for the past few months, sorry for not being very responsive to posts either. I have tried to keep up but know I’ve missed quite a few posts from my f’list.

Anyway, things will get back to my version of normality soon no doubt:)

In the meantime, I have signed up for the [community profile] fandomforoz charity auction. This is not something I’ve tried before but it’s a worthwhile cause. Do stop by their page to see the massive response they have had, and I'm pleased to be part of it.

It's little guys like this

and all the other wildlife and people that have been affected by our terrible bushfires that the auction will support.

So if there is anyone out there who would like to have their own personal, specially written and tailored to your specifications story delivered to your inbox, my services are on offer to the highest bidder:D

The fandoms I have specified are The Professionals, Lewis (TV), Supernatural and Stargate Atlantis. But I’m willing to include Person of Interest and Being Human in the mix.

To see my offer click on this link

Bidding starts at 00:00:01 GMT on 23 FEB 2020
